Anti-Clerics and Edged Weapons

It is known that those most devoted to furthering the path of their deity choose the path of a cleric. Though not destined for a high rank within their religious organizations, they are the most effective at putting to action their god's plan.

Of the gods who reign on high (and some below), there are two types: Law and Chaos. The two sides constantly tugging against each other in the eternal struggle.

Though many deities exist in both the camps of Law and Chaos, the two camps share some practices within their categories:

Clerics of Law

Lawful Clerics are unable to intentionally spill blood in the heat of combat, limiting them to using only blunt weapons. They also may not employ reversed spells, to do so would result in the total rejection of that cleric by their god.

Clerics of Chaos

Chaos Clerics are not bound to such a command but because they are within the realm of chaos, they are unable to turn undead away, for to do so would directly violate the mission of chaos. They are also unable to use some spells for their intended purpose left only to twist the sacred words of Law to employ terrible reversed spells against their victims.

"In my later journeys, returning to the brothers in my homelands, I encountered strange sects and cults formed from the teachings of the One True God who warped and inverted the holy words. They produced miracles such as I had seen of the most pious men, though they were unable to heal and mend, only able to destroy or distort. Clearly this inversion of the holy words has given them a great place in the ranks of the demonic lords who grant them with powers to trick and deceive those not vigilant and read in the holy texts." -- Excerpts from 'Cults and Dark Priests', in the Scripta Rota.
