equipment explanations
Lotus Pipe: A small pipe made of wood or metal used for smoking a small dose of lotus.
Hookah Staff: An elaborate portable apparatus carried by those with an affinity of magic. Used to consume large quantities of lotus while on the move. Many can be enchanted to posses magical powers.
Lotus Powder Pouch: A small hinged box or pouch with drawstring. Elaborately decorated with detailed colors and designs used for holding a single dose of lotus powder.
Sun Silks: Rare silks worn by the nomads in the Dromad Dunes to protect them from the unforgiving sun's deadly rays.
Machete: Forearm-length single-edged blade used for clearing brush, vines, and other debris when trekking through dense jungle.
Dowsing Rod: Mystical device used by tribal shaman and nomads in the Dromad Dunes to find sources of water beneath the surface.
Net: 5'x5' mesh blanket used for capturing creatures, preferably alive.
Grappling Hook: Three pronged metal hook used in combination with a rope to aid in climbing.
Fishing Rod: Wooden or reed pole fixed with a thin line used for catching fish with bait.
Fire Pot: Pot that can be pre-ignited and thrown. The area affected is a 10'x10' square. Those caught in the flames take a die of damage over the course of two combat rounds.
Sand Strider: Shelled grub-like creature with unblinking eyes and 5' tall thin legs. They are known for their ability travel long distances across lands of high temperatures with very little water.
Dune Shallop: Long thin vessel with a shimmering sail and sand rudder. These vessels are able to sail across the sand as if it were water, but are prone to the fickle mood of the winds.
Beakdog: Wolf-sized with bodies of canines and heads, talons, and plumage of a macaw. Able to imitate speech like parrots. These creatures make excellent war beasts but are violent and aggressive making them lousy companions. Beakdogs have been known to turn on their owners for as little as a meaty morsel of food.

In our journeys back north we saw an ambushed caravan, those parts that remained unburned soaked in vile black oil." -- Excerpts from 'Weapons of Agri Dur', in the Scripta Rota.
